all good things are wild and free - henry david thoreau
The bible is not a rule book, it's a story book; versatile & inspiring
I was raised a Christian. So.. I was taught that the Bible is the undeniable word of God. Solely inspired by God, it was written by men, and contains no faults, no mistruths (i'm being nice.. what I mean is lies), no misgivings, only pure God information. And that is such a relieving way to live isn't it? You don't need to worry about trying to figure anything out, because it's all layed out there for you in the Bible. Easy peasy. That is.. if you never try to think for yourself, or ask any kinds of questions.
There are things I know to be true, that do not coincide with what the Bible says. And at first I struggled with this. Because the Bible is the all knowing, all encompassing word of God. How in the hell can I disagree with it? Here's why: Because it is a book. God, did not author the Bible. Men did. God did not edit the Bible, men did. God didn't even translate that bitch so Sven, Rosita, Achmahad, & Sally could all read it in their own language. Men did that too. So how can we say that although this book has passed through the countless hands and mouths of men, that it is only inspired by God? Oh wait.. and we have free will? Come on now.
